Chiropractic Maintenance Care, is it Necessary?

Question: If I’m feeling fine do I really need chiropractic care? Answer: More than ever. Why? By the time a person has symptoms they may have been in a weakened, dis-ease state for a long time. Don’t wait until you have serious symptoms; chiropractic can locate hidden blockages or interferences to proper function (subluxations) now before they become more obvious and painful or disturbing later. Some signs of problems starting are difficulty sleeping (insomnia), low energy or fatigue, high blood pressure, allergies and digestive problems like gas, bloating, constipation or diarrhea. It’s sometimes helpful to think of chiropractic as you would dental care. For example, you may have dental cavities, an infected root canal or other dental infections and yet you may feel no pain. All the while, there is a problem silently festering, sometimes for years, that may be affecting your entire body and can ultimately ruin your health. … Continue reading

Chiropractic Care for Ear infections, Raynaud’s Syndrome and Stenosis

Here are a few studies on how chiropractic care has helped with a wide range of health issues. Chiropractic Care for a 10-year-old with an Ear Infection This boy suffered from fluid-filled ears, allergies and sleep disturbances. He was prescribed Flonase® and Zyrtec® for his allergies. His parents brought him in for chiropractic care. A chiropractic examination found a loss of normal neck curve, sacrum misalignment, and subluxations in the upper back (3rd thoracic or T3), lower (lumbar) spine and the base of the skull. The child was adjusted at T3. His ear started draining immediately and continued draining for the next two days. After two weeks of care X-rays were retaken and showed restoration of normal neck curve and alignment of the sacrum and pelvis. The child’s otitis media resolved. (4) Resolution of Raynaud’s Syndrome A 29-year-old woman had been suffering from cold, stiff hands with discoloration for the … Continue reading

Football Injuries – Can Chiropractic help?

Football Injuries – Can Chiropractic Help?  The excitement of this most American game of modern gladiators battling over territory cannot be denied. Football must touch an ancient part of our psychology and that is why it draws in millions of people around the globe. Football widows would enthusiastically agree.   However, football, along with so many other sports and human activities, has a dark side: you can get hurt. Badly hurt. We’re not just talking about broken bones. It appears that football (and boxing) causes brain damage known as CTE – chronic traumatic encephalopathy associated with repetitive head trauma. Other injuries include rotator cuff tears, whiplash type injuries and a host of other sports injuries.   The problem is worse than we thought. In a recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, CTE was diagnosed on autopsy (post-mortem) in a high proportion of former football players whose brains … Continue reading

What do Chiropractors do?

Q: What Do Doctors of Chiropractic Do? A: Doctors of chiropractic promote physical and emotional well-being. Chiropractic has become the largest natural, drug-free healthcare system in the US (and world) because chiropractors perform a unique service. Doctors of chiropractic are able to locate and correct subluxations, a condition that damages nerves, muscles, fascia, meninges and other tissues. Subluxations cause joints to “freeze” or lose normal movement, causing damage to the involved area. Subluxations cause imbalance, weakness, pain, inflammation, abnormal body function and many conditions including headaches,  back pain, shoulder pain, arm pain, tingling – and much more.  Subluxations can be caused by head trauma, whiplash injuries, car accidents, sports injuries or just a slipping and falling injury. Under chiropractic care your head is more balanced, your hips and shoulders are more level and stress is taken off the joints and muscles throughout your body. Because less of your energy goes into supporting … Continue reading

What is Heart Rate Variability?

Heart Rate Variability and Chiropractic Care The timing between heart beats should vary beat-to-beat. That is called heart rate variability (HRV). The more HRV, the greater a person’s health. Low HRV has been linked to physical and emotional disease or body malfunction. Analysis of the beat-to-beat intervals (heart rate variability) has been used to evaluate the nervous system balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic divisions. Analysis of beat-to- beat variability is a simple, non-invasive technique to evaluate autonomic dysfunction and may be a tool to assess the changes in autonomic activity associated with the reduction and correction of vertebral subluxations. A search of the relevant literature found that some controlled studies suggest that very thing: chiropractic care may improve heart rate variability in a positive way – meaning that nervous system function improves. The author writes, “Vertebral subluxations may result in altered autonomic nervous system activity. Heart rate variability is a … Continue reading

Chiropractic Case Studies

There seems to be no limit to the health problems that respond to chiropractic care. How many people suffering, on drugs, facing a life of limitation could be helped by a chiropractor? Probably most of them. Difficulties in Concentration, Stomach Pain, and Abdominal Migraines A 6-year-old girl was suffering from difficulties in concentration and learning since beginning school over a year prior. She also suffered from severe stomach pain for over two months that was diagnosed as “abdominal migraines”. She received weekly care over a period of six weeks. Improvements were seen in concentration and learning along with a complete resolution of her “abdominal migraines”. The results documented in this case suggest comorbidity between difficulties in concentration, learning, and abdominal migraines. Disc Protrusion A 43-year-old man complaining of left-sided low back pain that radiated down to the left leg, down the lateral calf, to the foot and heel came in … Continue reading

Avoid the Flu Shot? Why?

Why Avoid the Flu Shot This (and Every) Season  Since it’s flu shot season we have a valuable, scientifically-based recommendation regarding getting the flu shot: don’t! Why? The flu shot is dangerous and ineffective. It’s especially dangerous if you’re pregnant because it can cause spontaneous abortion (miscarriage) or can increase the chances you’ll have a child with autism. Why would anyone think something so dangerous is safe for anyone else? In addition to the above dangers, the flu shot has also been linked to paralysis, narcolepsy and many other conditions. It is one of the most commonly reported vaccines that cause serious reactions. Also, it doesn’t work. Do yourself and your family a favor, don’t get a flu shot. Here’s supporting documentation (below). Miscarriage (spontaneous abortion) after influenza vaccine The US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) released a study that reviewed data comparing pregnant and non-pregnant women who received flu … Continue reading

Is Chiropractic just about neck and back pain?

Questions and Answers About Chiropractic:  Question: Why is chiropractic considered a treatment for back and neck pain by many people? Answer: It’s a matter of real estate, i.e. location. Doctors of Chiropractic work on your spine and structural system in order to release nerve interference or nerve stress (subluxations). We work on that part of the body because that’s where the nerves are. Because chiropractors work on the spine it is assumed we are treating spinal pain. But why do children with asthma, bedwetting and allergies respond to chiropractic care? Why do women with menstrual cramps or those with headaches and migraines respond to chiropractic care? Why is there better sports performance and improved balance, vision and hearing? That’s because nerves from your spine are like telephone wires connecting your brain to your internal organs, glands, muscles and many other body parts. They need to communicate with no static or interference. However, … Continue reading

History of Chiropractic

How Old is Chiropractic? Chiropractic was discovered (or really rediscovered) in 1895 in Davenport, Iowa by Dr. D.D. Palmer. Dr. Palmer learned that the owner of the janitorial service in his office building had been deaf for many years after an accident. Dr. Palmer analyzed the man’s spine and located a displaced vertebra. He laid him down on a bench and gave him the world’s first chiropractic adjustment. The man’s hearing returned. Dr. Palmer thought he had discovered the cure for deafness but shortly thereafter Dr. Palmer had a patient suffering from heart trouble. He found a spinal distortion (subluxation) in the man’s spine, corrected it, and the heart trouble was relieved. How could two conditions so different as deafness and heart trouble be helped by spinal adjustments? So began the birth of chiropractic. Dr. Palmer’s successes attracted people from far and wide and in time he opened the world’s … Continue reading

The Importance of Regular Chiropractic Visits

Why should I return (especially I’m feeling fine)? “Delays have dangerous ends.” – William Shakespeare You entered our office feeling terrible and now you feel great. So why does your chiropractor suggest coming in again? “Why can’t I return when I’m feeling bad?” you may ask. “I Feel Fine” Health Care We’ve all seen people looking like death warmed over who say they “feel fine.” Yet they have no energy, sleep poorly, are tired, depressed, have aches and pains, headaches or backaches. Too many people who “feel fine” have a sudden heart attack, stroke, debilitating pain or are diagnosed with a serious disease. Sadly, too many people have lost touch with how they really feel. They’ve lost sensitivity or ignore their body’s subtle signs of disease. Don’t make that mistake! Why More Visits? Most people first visit our office for chiropractic care after they’ve had years of long-standing subluxations. By that … Continue reading
